Tardiness

All students are expected to be on time to each class.  Any student not in the appropriate classroom with the proper books and materials at the ringing of the bell is considered to be tardy.

Students arriving late for the following reasons, will not be counted tardy:

    a. Doctor or dental appointments that could not be

        scheduled otherwise.

                b. Car pool transportation being late.

Junior high and high school students who are late for first period must report to the office and obtain a Tardy Pass.  This will go on your report card.

Students who know they will be late to school for some unavoidable reason should have their parents call the school to give the reason.  A student who is more than one period late will be counted as absent for the morning.

If a student is tardy to one of the later periods, he/she must again go to the office to obtain a Tardy Pass.  However, if the tardy was caused by a conference with another teacher, that teacher will see that the student is admitted directly to class.

Any student who accumulates five “tardies” for any reason, (except those handled directly by teachers), in one quarter, shall receive a written warning with student signature.  After six tardies, parents will be contacted.  Seven plus tardies will be given an after school detention.  Another detention will be given for each subsequent tardy in that quarter.

In addition, for every three tardies to a given academic class in one nine week period, a 2% deduction may be taken from the student’s grade average for the quarter.  In non-academic classes, a detention may be given in place of a grade reduction.
