Statement of Faith

For the purpose of clarifying our beliefs and ideals in the operation of Clinton Christian School for our children, we, the Clinton Christian School Association, do hereby declare and adopt the following statement of faith.

1.                  We believe in and champion the fundamental truths of the Christian faith as set forth in the Articles of Faith adopted by the Mennonite General Conference of August 22, 1963.

2.                  We believe in and commit ourselves to the maintenance of a positive scriptural discipline of our children, in the home and in the school, recognizing that the use of the rod as an extreme means of correction is scripturally enjoined, and further, we pledge ourselves to give full support to the faculty of our school in the administration of a firm, loving, and reasonable disciplinary program.

3.                  We recognize the inroads which modern laxity of moral standards and conduct have made into the lives of some among us, and we declare our firm resolve to maintain the highest standards of Christian moral conduct in the home and school, using whatever effective measures my be necessary to maintain these standards and inculcate them into our children.

4.                  We believe in and commit ourselves to the principle of positive separation from the world.  We recognize this principle as a means of witness to the world of a vital spiritual experience as set forth in I Corinthians 6:14-18, calling for a definite commitment on the part of the individual to the Lordship of Christ, a holy life, and a willingness to bring the gospel to all men.

5.                  We believe in and commit ourselves to the maintenance of the principle of non-resistance and love to our fellow man, and non-participation in military activity, seeking to overcome evil by doing good to all men.

6.                  We believe in separation of church and state, avoiding social and political activism, sharing with elected officials our Scriptural position and moral concerns, fulfilling our Christian obligation through prayer, godly living and submission.

7.                  We believe in and commit ourselves to the promotion of the New Testament principle of Christian stewardship, which requires that all our material possessions be held subject to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to be used at his bidding through the leading of the Holy Spirit for the advancement of the cause of Christ and the church.

8.                  We believe in and commit ourselves to the greater development of trust in God and the Exercises of Christian brotherhood as set forth in the New Testament for our security in life.

9.                  We believe that the New Testament calls for an appreciation for the virtue of honest toil and a full measure of service for compensation received, and commit ourselves to the inculcation of these principles into our children, in the home and in the school.
