General School Conduct

“Whatever you do, whether in word or action, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.”  (Colossians 3:17)

1. Students are to show courtesy and respect for other students, teachers, staff and visitors.  Teachers’ and students’ desks, lockers and personal belongings are to be respected as private property.

2. The school attempts to provide adequate, clean facilities.  The students are asked to help keep them so.

3. Individual students will be assessed for damage they cause to any part of the school property, including books, desks, walls, etc.  The student(s) responsible will be assessed the amount of damage, when the damage occurs, and the parent(s) will be notified.

4. Christian standards of moral and social conduct are expected of all students.  Cheating, stealing, other forms of dishonesty, profanity, dirty jokes, pornography, fighting, and use of inappropriate reading materials shall be considered serious offenses.

5. CCS considers the spiritual life of students and faculty a vital part of Christian education.  Conduct during chapel and worship times is to be reverent.  Students are expected to participate in singing and other forms of worship.  They are to attentively listen to speakers and refrain from distracting behavior.

6. Students are not to leave campus during the school day without permission and signing out.

7. There is to be no running, shoving or horseplay in the halls, classrooms and restrooms.  Students should keep to the right when walking in the halls.

8. Both high school and elementary students will share the halls and restrooms.  It is courteous that each respects the needs and rights of the other.  Usually, we expect the older, more mature students to take the lead in avoiding conflict and showing respect.

9. The parking areas are not for games or playing.  Students are to cross them only to go to and from vehicles.

10. Dating rules and practice are, in general, subject to the rules of the parents.  Couples are urged to continue to pursue a wide range of friendships and not separate themselves from the student body.  Physical expressions of affection, (hand-holding, “necking”, hanging on each other, etc.), are inappropriate behavior on the school grounds and at school functions.

11. Candy and snacks are to be eaten in designated lunch areas.  If they are found in classrooms or study halls, they will be confiscated.  Gum chewing is permissible.  Students are encouraged to chew politely and dispose of properly.
