GENERAL INFORMATION

Telephones – The school telephone is considered a business phone and is not primarily for student use.  Students may use the phone with permission from the secretary or a staff person.  Office use takes precedence over student use.

The use of cell phones or pagers is not allowed at school.  Also prohibited is accessing the Internet through personal phone or computer wireless connections.

Knives and other weapons – Knives, including pocketknives, guns, toy guns, water pistols or any weapons or toy representation of a weapon are not permitted and will be confiscated.

Vehicles – Parents or designated drivers are generally responsible for student transportation.

Students who drive are not to use their cars during school hours without permission.  They are to be parked in designated areas and left alone throughout the school day.  Sitting in cars is not permitted at lunch or other times of the day.

Vehicles should enter the north drive and leave via the south drive.

Arrivals and departures – Students should arrive at school between 7:50 and 8:03 AM and leave promptly after dismissal, unless involved in official school activities.  Students who need to arrive early or stay after 3:30 PM should make arrangements with the school office.  Students not involved in school-sponsored activities will be expected to be in the library before 7:50 AM and after 3:20 PM.

Lunch – Except on Wednesdays, students must carry their lunch to school.  There are designated eating areas.  Refrigerators and microwaves are available for student use.

Students are responsible for proper behavior during lunch period, and will be asked to help keep the eating area clean.

On Wednesdays, a parent committee plans and serves a hot lunch.  To be eligible, parents must: 1) pay a nominal fee per student, and 2) help furnish and serve food.  Students that participate in this meal are asked to show proper manners to the persons serving them.  Students not participating will carry their lunches as usual.

Visitors – All visitors, including student visitors, must report to the school office at the beginning of the visit.  Parents are especially welcome to visit, and we ask that you let the office know you are in the building.

Bible – For uniformity, CCS uses the New International Version of the Bible for study and memorization.

Leaving the classroom – Students are to be in their classrooms during school hours.  They may leave the room by permission of the classroom teacher only.  Planning books are to tell time, place(s) student will be, and teacher’s signature.  When signing out of study hall, you need to return prior to the dismissal bell ringing.  There is a sign out/sign in sheet in the study hall.

Nine Minute Breaks – This break is after third period.  Snack shop, directed by the senior class, is open during this time.  There is no warning bell for the next class.

Library – The school provides a basic library for use in preparing assignments and for casual reading.  All students may use the books and magazines provided they follow the basic guidelines.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – A parent-teacher conference is scheduled at the end of the first grading period.  This gives each student’s parents a specific block of time to discuss with the teacher(s) the progress and development of that student.  Parents and teachers are encouraged to request special conferences at any time during the year.

Fire and tornado drills – These drills will be held during the school year.  Each room has its respective exits and procedures posted.  Students are to take the drills seriously.  The principal will deal with students not cooperating.

Computers – Computers are provided for student use primarily as educational tools.  For that reason games may not be loaded or used on school computers without approval from the principal.  Laptop computers are allowed only with permission from the principal and all applicable school computer and Internet policies govern use.

Internet – Students may have access to the Internet, for research purposes, with teacher supervision and parental approval.  Students are not allowed to use school computers for email.  Misuse of the Internet will result in loss of privilege.

Cell phones/pagers – The use of cell phones or pagers is not allowed at school.  Also prohibited is accessing the Internet through personal phone or computer wireless connections.

Medication – Non-prescription medications may be given to students by the secretary with permission from a parent.  Prescription medications may be given with permission from a parent and a doctor’s signature.  Forms are sent home with students at the beginning of the year for parents to fill out and return to the school.  Medications will not be given without a signed parental permission form.  Students are not to keep medications in their lockers.

Chapel – Chapel will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Students are to attend chapels.  They are to come with an attitude of expectation for God to work.

Morning devotion activity – A devotion time is built into the first period of the day.  The teachers of first period classes will share this time with their students.

Homework – Grades 9-12 may have significant amounts of daily homework.  Grades 7-8 may have some homework each day.  The other elementary classes may have homework each day.
