Classroom Conduct
1. The teacher
is given the responsibility of using preventive and corrective measures to
ensure a high level of discipline within their classroom. Students are to conform to the rules and
structure of the class.
2. The class ends
when the teacher dismisses it. The bell
is the teacher’s guide. Students should
wait to close books and notebooks until the class is over. The bells do not have meaning for elementary
students.
3. At the
beginning of a period, the student is to be in the room when the bell rings and
move immediately to his/her seat and get quiet to begin class. A student who does not may be counted tardy
and/or disciplined by the teacher.
4. Students are
to bring all necessary materials, (books, notebooks, pens, etc.), with them to
class at the beginning of the period.
They may be counted tardy if they return to their locker for materials.
5. Writing and
passing notes, talking or any action distracting from the activities or
discussion led by the teacher are inappropriate.
6. In general,
students are to be orderly in the classroom.
The teacher may require students to raise their hands for permission to
speak.
7. Textbooks are
loaned to the students. At the end of
the year, the student is responsible to return it in good condition. Do not write in textbooks. Students may be assessed for the cost of
books and workbooks defaced or destroyed.
