Class rank is determined by a combination
of grade point average (GPA) and total grade points (TGP). The GPA portion is to encourage excellence
in academic work; the TGP portion is to encourage students to enroll in more courses,
some of which they may have avoided to keep the GPA higher. It is possible, therefore, for a student
with a 4.0 GPA to rank below another student with a 3.99. Students with particular interest in class
rank should ask the guidance counselor for a copy of the related board policy.
